Norwegian Cruise Line

One of the many cruise line companies that you can book a vacation package with is Norwegian Cruise Line. Also known as NCL, the private company was founded in 1966. Their headquarters is based in Miami-Dade County, Florida and its former name was Norwegian Caribbean Line.

What made NCL popular is the Freestyle Cruising concept that they introduced a few years ago. Rather than sticking to the traditional ways of enjoying a cruise where there are set meal times and passengers are required to dress up for dinner – NCL did away with such rules. There are no set times for meals, no seating arrangements and no dress code.

Currently, NCL controls about 8% of the total worldwide share of the cruise market. In addition, it is a joint owner of another popular cruise line called Star Cruises as well as Apollo Management.

Norwegian Cruise Line's Cruise Ships & Destinations

Under the NCL brand, the following ships are currently sailing:

- Norwegian Sky
- Norwegian Sun
- Norwegian Star
- Norwegian Dawn
- Norwegian Spirit
- Norwegian Jewel
- Norwegian Pearl
- Norwegian Gem
- Norwegian Jade
- Norwegian Epic

The 153,000-ton Norwegian Epic is the world's fifth largest cruise ship which currently sails under the Bahamas flag. There's also the Pride of America vessel which sails under the NCL America brand.

So where in the world would you like to go? Some of the destinations where NCL vessels are cruising include the Mediterranean and Baltic Sea; Caribbean, Bahamas and Bermuda; Hawaii; Panama Canal and Mexican Riviera; Alaska, Canada and New England; as well as the Transatlantic.

When you book for an NCL cruise to Hawaii, for example, and the ship is the Pride of America – you will get to enjoy inter-island cruising with more than 140 hours in port. As such, you will have a chance to explore the lush Hawaiian islands of Oahu, Kauai and Maui within seven days.

Some of the amenities that you can enjoy on board include bowling alleys, a fitness center, swimming pools, casinos, karaoke bars, theaters which showcase Broadway-style shows and spas. Perhaps the one thing which makes NCL cruises a cut above the rest is the fact that passengers are free to spend their holidays as they wish.

At the end of the day, no matter where your travel interests lie, you can rest assured that you'll have a grand time on board one of the luxury cruise vessels that NCL has to offer.
