Windstar Cruises

Windstar Cruises is a company established in 1984. The first-ever ship to sail the seas under the brand that they have is called the msy Wind Star, launched in 1986. Unfortunately, the second ship which sailed out called msy Wind Song was lost in fire – but the company quickly recovered after that.

In 1987, the Holland America Line purchased 50% of Windstar Sail Cruises and negotiations for purchasing the other half was finished a year later. Several company developments have been made after that and currently, Windstar Cruises is a company registered in the Bahamas.

What makes Windstar Cruises stand out is the fact that their ships are small enough to be allowed in smaller ports worldwide where larger cruise ships cannot pass. They do have an exciting line-up of exotic destinations, making each cruise vacation package perfect for the adventurous travellers.

Windstar Cruises: 180 Degrees from Ordinary

So what are you supposed to do if you would like to book a cruise with Windstar Cruises and experience a vacation which is 180 degrees different from the ordinary? First, make a selection among these exciting destinations where you can travel:

- Baltic
- Caribbean
- Costa Rica
- Greek Isles
- Holy Land
- Europe
- Panama Canal
- Transatlantic

Second, take your pick from the fleet of ships that Windstar Cruises have:

1. Wind Spirit
Mainly sailing to Athens and Istanbul, Wind Spirit is able to serve 148 guests who can be housed in 74 staterooms. The accommodations that they have include an ocean view, as well as one deluxe Owner's Suite which has queen beds and a sitting area. Unlike larger cruise ships, guests can enjoy that more intimate air when sailing aboard the Wind Spirit.

2. Wind Star
Just like the Wind Spirit, Wind Star can also accommodate 148 guests and pamper them to the extreme. The Wind Star cruises along the mysterious harbors and secluded coves of the world, making for a truly exciting cruise vacation.

3. Wind Surf
Mainly sailing to Venice, Rome and Barcelona, Wind Surf is three times the size of Wind Star and Wind Spirit. It can carry up to 312 guests and there are 154 staterooms. Many of these have ocean-view suites and the accommodations are truly luxurious.

Unlike other cruise ships which look like floating hotels, the smaller vessels of Windstar Cruises have the real thing – sails flying according to the movement of the wind. As such, each cruise vacation package that you will book with Windstar Cruises will give you a private yacht experience as you board one of its luxury vessels and sail across exciting parts of the world.
