Thanksgiving Breaks
Ocean air in Miami, or pool days and theme parks in Orlando.
A Thanksgiving getaway shouldn't feel like work.
Whether you prefer the spontaneous rhythm of the beach or the endless entertainment of an Orlando resort, these two very different directions offer families a way to gather, relax, and create lasting memories without the stress of hosting at home.
Here is a look at what three relaxed days could feel like in both places, alongside three distinct ways to stay.

Option One
Best for a beach-first Thanksgiving with relaxed pool days and a city outing.
Miami is for families who prefer their days to unfold naturally: swim, move from the pool to the beach, and spend time together. There are plenty of restaurants for easy family lunches and a special dinner, with a city outing whenever you feel like a change. Reserve the holiday meals you really want; leave the rest flexible.
The Focus
Pools and beach. November days are weather-dependent, but generally offer a warm, beautiful escape.
A Day Out
An aquarium afternoon at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science, or a day exploring Zoo Miami.
On the Water
Water sports, boat charters, or coastline tours—easy to add subject to local conditions.
Where to stay

Lively family mid-range
A family-friendly South Beach base often bustling with kids. Features a zero-entry pool, direct beach access, and SoBe Kids Club programming.

Upscale & family welcoming
Design-forward beachfront downtime. It offers two beautiful pools amid tropical landscaping, balancing elevated aesthetics with a welcoming atmosphere for families.

Practical 4-star value
A relaxed Miami Beach choice with Atlantic access and two heated outdoor pools. Less elaborate kid entertainment, but excellent value for pool and beach access.

Option Two
Best for a mix of resort downtime and optional theme-park days.
Three days in Orlando need not mean three days in the parks. The best Thanksgiving trips here balance the excitement of Disney with the amenities of a great resort.
We suggest one dedicated Disney day for first-timers (Magic Kingdom). From there, you can add an optional second park day, or keep it open for a seasonal waterpark depending on weather and closures.
Spend at least one full day just enjoying the property. Whether floating down a lazy river or letting the kids splash in a volcano-themed pool, downtime is essential for a holiday break.

Where to stay

A full-service luxury resort
A resort-first stay featuring a beautiful Ritz-Carlton pool, plus access to the lazy river and slides at the shared JW Marriott Grande Lakes Waterpark.

Official Disney on-site
A premium example of staying inside Walt Disney World, with a volcano-themed Lava Pool and monorail or boat access to Magic Kingdom. It is one of many Disney hotels at different price levels—not the only way to stay on-site.

Large group self-catering
Eight bedrooms, a private pool, and room for the family to spread out. Sharing a villa can lower the cost per person for a large group. You arrange your own meals and drive to the parks; a practical base if you expect to spend much of the day out.
Compare the Ritz-Carlton's total rate with on-site Disney hotels, not just hotels with the same luxury label: at Disney, part of what you pay for is location and convenience. An off-site resort or shared villa may offer more for the budget, depending on dates and group size. Include room count, resort and parking fees, villa cleaning and pool heating, transport, and park tickets before choosing.
